Ritz pleased with quick end to rail strike

OTTAWA – Minister of Labour, the Honourable Dr. K. Kellie Leitch, P.C., O.Ont., M.P., announced this afternoon that Canadian Pacific Railway Company (CP) and the Teamsters Canada Rail Conference (TCRC) have agreed to voluntary mediated arbitration.

“I am pleased to see that the rail strike was short lived and that both CP and TCRC have decided to send their outstanding issues to voluntary arbitration,” said Minister Ritz.

The strike, which began on February 15, is being suspended while both sides work together with mediators.
