Minister Ritz Announces Appointment to Farm Products Council of Canada

Agriculture Minister Gerry Ritz announced today the appointment of Chantelle Donahue to the Farm Products Council of Canada (FPCC). Ms. Donahue's appointment to the Council is for a three-year term effective immediately. Biographical notes are attached.

Quick facts

• The FPCC's role is to provide oversight of the national supply management agencies for poultry and eggs, as well as to supervise national promotion and research agencies for farm products.
• The FPCC is responsible for administering two federal laws, the Farm Products Agencies Act (FPAA) and the Agricultural Products Marketing Act (APMA).
• The FPCC is composed of between three and seven members who are appointed by the Governor in Council upon the recommendation of the Minister of Agriculture and Agri-Food. The Chairman is also the Deputy Head of the organization and the only full-time Council member.

Biographical Note – Chantelle Donahue

Chantelle Donahue is from Biggar, Saskatchewan where she is co-owner of Family Grain and Oilseed farm. She is also Vice-President of Corporate Affairs for Cargill, Limited. Ms. Donahue currently sits on a number of agricultural councils and associations. She is presently Chair of the Canada Grains Council and the Western Grain Elevator Association Management Committee. She is also Co-Chair of the Agriculture and AgriFood Canada Grains Roundtable and, Canadian Roundtable for Sustainable Crops, and Vice-Chair for the Barley Council of Canada. Ms. Donahue sits on Boards for Cereals Canada, Malting Industry Association of Canada, the Canadian National Millers Association, and Ag-West Bio Inc. She is also a member of the Canada Meat Council Beef Committee, the steering committee for the Roundtable for Sustainable Beef and a representative on the Agriculture and Agri-Food Canada Beef Value Chain Round Table. Recently, she was Director for the Canadian Agri-Food Trade Alliance. Ms. Donahue holds a Bachelor of Commerce (Cooperative Program) from the University of Alberta.
