Our Riding Battlefords-Lloydminster

The vast electoral district of Battlefords-Lloydminster is almost 33,000 square kilometres with a population of (2011 census) 76,295. The riding includes the major municipalities of North Battleford, Kindersley, Battleford, Unity, a portion of Lloydminster - Canada's only border city that straddles the line between Saskatchewan and Alberta - as well as many small rural communities.

The riding offers tremendous diversity in its people, landscapes and economies.  The unique mix has created a rich past, vibrant present and a promising future.

Battlefords-Lloydminster showcases much of the beauty Saskatchewan has to offer, with its patchwork of cropland and pastures stretching up from the southern portion of the riding to the many forests, lakes and rivers in the north.

The region is rich in history, influenced by Métis culture and by the settlers who created the first capital of the Northwest Territories. Battleford holds the distinction of being home to the first seat of government in the West.

Agriculture is the backbone of the economy but increased diversification has meant that oil and natural gas production, as well as the emerging biofuels industry, are becoming increasingly important.
